The search engine positions itself as alternative to other search engines such as the Google search engine. The big difference between the two is that DuckDuckGo blocks third-party tracking scripts and cookies from tracking you online.

However, in May, DuckDuckGo came under fire after Microsoft trackers were found while using the DuckDuckGo browsers.

“We had limited ability to apply our load protection by external trackers to Microsoft trackers due to a policy requirement for us to use Bing as a source for our private search results,” wrote DuckDuckGo CEO Gabriel Weinberg in blog post. “We’re glad it’s not like that anymore. We have not had and do not have similar restrictions with any other company ”.

DuckDuckGo Third-party tracker charging protection already blocks tracking scripts from companies like Facebook and Google. DuckDuckGo said it already blocks most Microsoft tracking scripts and restricts Microsoft tracking with other security measures, including blocking third-party Microsoft cookies in DuckDuckGo browsers.

DuckDuckGo also announced that Microsoft has involved not to profile DuckDuckGo users after clicking on the ad. Advertising on DuckDuckGo is part of the company’s partnership with Microsoft.

“When you click on a Microsoft-provided ad that appears on DuckDuckGo, Microsoft Advertising does not associate your ad clicking behavior with your user profile,” writes DuckDuckGo on its website. “Nor does it store or share this information for purposes other than accounting.”

DuckDuckGo notes that some advertisers use Microsoft scripts to see in Microsoft Advertising how often clicking an ad results in a purchase. While external tracker loading protection does not prevent these requests from being loaded on the advertiser’s website, they are blocked in all other contexts. You can disable ads in DuckDuckGo in your search settings, and DuckDuckGo’s ad serving is anonymous.

DuckDuckGo also presented a new website this explains what security DuckDuckGo provides in all of its products. DuckDuckGo has been released to the public directories also what is and is not blocked when using browsers. Users can report any issues they see in the directories by sending an email to open@duckduckgo.com.

You can download DuckDuckGo mobile apps for Android and iOS from Google Play Store or Application Store.
