Fifteen years ago, the first iPhone went on sale. It was five months after Steve Jobs, in arguably his most iconic speech to Apple, introduced the original iPhone: “Ipod, telephone, and instant messaging. Ipod, telephone, okay?”
Steve Jobs revealed the Apple phone on January 9, 2007. Night at the Museum was number 1 in theaters. Nokia has been a big brand in phones. President Gerald Ford was buried a few days earlier. In a wildcard play-off game, the Indianapolis Colts just defeated the Kansas City Chiefs before winning the Super Bowl.
“The iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone,” Jobs said in his speech.
The iPhone wasn’t actually magic. There were even behind-the-scenes efforts required to keep the iPhone from crashing while Jobs demonstrated it during a speech. But 15 years later, it would be hard to argue that the iPhone was not revolutionary. Whether you are a loyal owner of an iPhone or you have never owned one, the impact that iPhone has made on our daily lives is unquestionable.
